For your amusement, old light new light

January 20th, 2009 at 08:43 pm

Here is the old light.

As you can see, it has a rather large hole burned into it. What you don't see is that it didn't actually fit into the space so they took the top off of it.

Here is what we replaced it with. FYI, ours is not plastic.

I am thinking the 100 watt cfl might be overkill, it shines like a beacon in the dark, but you can see. Smile

Very nice. I've got no problem with the 100 watt bulb. I think most people don't light the front of their home nearly well enough.

When we moved in, the front of our house was so dark I was actually shopping for the lights that go in the ground along the walkway. Before I bought them, fortunately, one of the front bulbs burned out. When I went to replace it, I discovered that they only had 40 watt bulbs in there. I replaced them all with 75 watt bulbs and suddenly the house was brightly lit and I didn't need to spend the money on the walk lights.

That's true. Outdoor lighting doubles as a form of passive security for the house. From that perspective, I don't think there is such a thing as "bright enough".

I want to know how they managed to melt the plastic lens. None of the others have any dmage like that.
