Musing on No Spend Days...

December 17th, 2007 at 06:12 pm

I read a lot of blogs that have no spend days. For me, almost everyday is a no spend day. Its easier to count the spend days. Not that this means I don't spend any money, it just means I usually do it in batches, lol.

However, the batches have been getting smaller. This weekend we went to a play (my christmas present) and we spent $35, which included lunch and dinner. We used to spend twice that on just supper so definite improvement there.

Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Lately, I have been trying to implement no spend days. It actually has made the difference in deciding what days to go to the stores to shop. Although that is a bit more difficult at holiday time. It is something that I'm definitely going to consciously try to implement in January. I'm going to keep a log and also write on my calender NSD. Thanks for the encouragement.

You could easily reduce your no spend days by consolidating your shopping trips, but that wouldn't mean you necessarily spent any less money overall.

I am much the same way. However, I cheat. Dh does most the shopping. So I rarely have a spend day at all. Wink It's been so busy at work I have been leaving the empty gas cars so he could gas up for me. So even less spending than usual...

I would say that the more focused I am about what I want to buy and the less time I spend in the store saves me money. For sure I save more when I don't go to the store as often. You also save gas when you combine your trips and you don't have the time to do all of the window shopping that you normally would.
