New Kitchen Floor Pictures

March 6th, 2009 at 08:06 pm

So as promised here are photos.

This one is a close up and does a pretty good job of conveying the color.

This one is just a larger swath.

We need to grab 2 more pieces to finish up and then we can move on to repairing the wall where the trim was located, removing the tile backsplash and begin the all encompassing job of getting the walls ready for painting. Ick. Once the walls are painted, we will put the new almond colored trim around the base of the wall.

This kitchen is interesting. At first I only noticed the lime green countertop. Then, once we replaced that, I noticed the pink flooring. Replaced that and now I am noticing the walls, the 1950's yellowed ornate plastic chime for the doorbell and the vent for the furnace about 2/3 of the way up the wall...

The walls I am already prepared for but the doorbell chime and register may need to get upgraded as well. Fortunately they are cheap. Most of the vents in the house have already been converted to a stained wood register so this is just one more. Reason we choose wood registers is because they look more appropriate in a house with original wood floor registers.

Ahh the joys of never ending projects. Believe it or not, we are enjoying the process. :P

lol - the other day DF and I were pulling up the floor, and we noticed all the trimmings around the house are painted a peachy pink colour! blech. it's the same for us: finish the floor (then move in) then paint. Smile

    Nice...is that vinyl or tile?

Its a textured laminate flooring that comes in planks (think 3 tile long sets). I have to say that its amazing what they are doing with laminate these days. It actually sticks only to itself so it will be easy to take up when we are ready to do a real remodel on the kitchen (well done the road). Extremely sturdy too (handy in our destructive household).

If you take out that doorbell, consider seeing if you can get anything for it on ebay. There are doorbell collectors! What are the non-wood register covers made of?

Hope you will continue posting pictures. Smile I'm happy following the house rehab of three bloggers here, yourself included, of course.

Non wood registers are steel painted white. Nothing atrocious but certainly lacking character and out of place. Not to mention, I personally think that white against brown is a little off looking. Light tans and wood work much better. My graphic designer friend wouldn't even put the register back on the wall after painting because she hated it so much.

As to the collectors, I think they might be more anxious for my metal light fixture. Its a metal shield with just a small section that lets light through. Its definitely 1950's as well.

No worries about not posting. We still have plenty of pictures to amuse you. Wink
